Our story

Who are we?

Hi! We’re Ashley and Billy. We’re newlyweds, DIY enthusiasts, and treasure hunters when it comes to vintage finds! We’ve been together just shy of a decade, but we recently purchased our first shared house. In addition to this home project, we both work full time and own our own, separate homes. Our relationship has pretty much been long distance since the beginning, and we’re really eager to finally live together full time.

Why this house?

We’re relocating to a small, country town to be close to family and friends. We had a limited budget and desired a certain area - leaving our housing options very limited. We chose our house primarily for the location, but also for the bones of the house. While the farmhouse is not currently our style, it’s relatively new, in great shape, and we could see the potential a mile away.

Why share?

While we’re eager to get started creating the home of our dreams, we know it’s going to be a long, slow process. We’re still working on a tight budget. We decided to document this process so we had something fun to look back on one day, but we also wanted to help others feel inspired to decorate on a budget. We hope you find this small corner of the internet a warm and welcoming place.

How to decorate on a budget?

There’s few things I love more than the thrill of the hunt out looking for vintage and secondhand items. Never knowing if/when you’re going to come across something that stops you in your tracks. The furniture piece that makes the entire design. The quirky object that sets your bookshelves apart. The item you instantly know will become a beloved family heirloom.

While I’m not the best, I also love the satisfaction that comes at the end of a DIY project. If I can do it myself, why wouldn’t I?

What can you expect?

We’ll share the entire process of turning this farmhouse into our dream house. It will be full of DIY projects, thrift hauls, room makeovers, and budget breakdowns. We’ll go into a lot of detail here on the blog, but the easiest way to keep track of us and stay in the know is to follow us on Instagram. We’ll post more often there and things will be posted in real-time. Keep coming back to the blog for in-depth tutorials and thought processes!

We both currently own our own, separate homes that we’re refreshing to sell and/or put up for rent. Periodically you’ll see things from both of those projects as well.

Why should you follow along?

We’re not professionals. We’re not perfect. And we definitely don’t have an unlimited budget. But what we do have is a deep love for creating warm, welcoming spaces filled with personality, history, and charm. This journey is all about thrifting, DIYing, and making a house feel like home —one secondhand treasure at a time.
