Meet Chloe, Our Official Project Supervisor!
If there’s one thing Chloe takes seriously, it’s making sure every corner of our home is as cozy as possible—preferably with a soft spot for her to curl up in.
Several years ago, I saw a Facebook post from a local animal rescue asking for donations to help two tiny, mange-covered puppies get the care they needed. Their little faces were heartbreaking, and I immediately sent in a donation, never imagining that one of those pups would soon become mine.
A few months later, those same puppies—now fluffy and fully recovered—were up for adoption. One of them, Lainey, had a striking face split perfectly down the middle, half brown and half white. She was adorable, and apparently, everyone else thought so too because the waitlist to adopt her was long.
Then, something unexpected happened. The foster mom reached out and told me that while Lainey had plenty of admirers, no one had inquired about her sweet little sister, Chloe. She said Chloe was calmer, cuddlier, and just as deserving of a loving home.
One visit was all it took. I was completely smitten with this little black-and-white pup. I called Billy and said we’d do a “trial run” for a week—but let’s be honest, I already knew she wasn’t going anywhere. Chloe was home.
Fast forward to today, and Chloe remains the queen of cozy, the ultimate snuggle buddy, and now, our official project supervisor as we turn this house into a home.
Designing a Pet-Friendly Home
When planning our renovations, one thing is non-negotiable—Chloe’s comfort. Our home isn’t just for us; it’s for her too! Here are some of the ways we’re making sure she feels just as at home as we do:
🐾 Outdoor Freedom: One of our first priorities is installing a fence so she can run, play, and patrol her kingdom safely. A secure yard means more zoomies, more sunbathing, and fewer worries for us!
🐾 Pet-Friendly Furniture: Chloe is a professional cuddler, which means durable, pet-friendly fabrics are a must. We’re on the hunt for fabrics and furniture that can withstand paws, fur, and the occasional zoomie-induced slip-and-slide.
🐾 Vintage Finds for All: Since we love incorporating vintage and secondhand pieces, we’re keeping an eye out for pet-friendly antique finds—like a beautiful wooden trunk that could double as stylish storage for Chloe’s toys and blankets.
