This is where it begins…

…and where we hope to go! My design aesthetic has went through several evolutions throughout the past. I’ve been super girly with frills and pink everywhere. I had a strong farmhouse era in my first apartment with the onslaught that was the Fixer Upper franchise. I’ve went full boho with rattan, wicker, and macramé galore. I’ve also always loved mid-century modern.

Needless to say, my design style is pretty all over the place. As I’ve aged I’ve felt less pressure to choose a solitary design style. I don’t see the point in boxing yourself into this one design style to eventually grow out of it. I still love the color pink. I still love touches of rustic, antique furniture. I still love pops of rattan. A sprinkle of MCM? Yes, please! During the last few years I’ve started to appreciate touches of French Provincial and have really leaned into the cozy, colorful style that is synonymous with English cottages.

For this house, my hope is to incorporate all of my loves while leaning into the cozy, eclectic, at home feel. My hope is for this house to be our sanctuary and a place where all of our friends and family feel welcome.

In order for us to nest and get settled, we’re starting the makeover process in the primary suite. My hope for this space, like the rest of the house, is to feel collected, eclectic, and cozy, but with a moody, relaxing quality added. We’re planning to add lots of character with wall moulding, a moody paint color, a mix of vintage and new furniture, and mix-matched textiles. I’m so excited to see the final product! Which design detail from our moodboard is your favorite?
